My Monday with Equitable PCI Bank

I received a postal mail today from Equitable pci Bank stating that my account with them was terminated or closed. I was surprised because I made a withdrawal from my account just minutes after I received the mail. So I had to go the bank again and ask what happened. According to banking laws who would not if the amount in your account will be disposed?

Checking the account in the mail and comparing it with my account number, the account numbers are different. The name and address are the same. The bank teller asked whether I had applied before for a payroll account with them. I didn’t. In fact, I opened my account with EPCI last January only. As the bank teller checked the account, it was found out that the hardcopy revealed a different name and address.

They interpreted that there must be a glitch when the machine generated the message. According some database concepts, I believe the program will pick the name in keeoing with the account number. Second thing, I received two mails regarding the account on separate occasions. Thirdly, don’t they check the mails like as this before putting them in an envelope?

The code review plan is reviewed by a senior and then finalized. Next is the detailed code review. The detailed review uses a combination of manual inspection and tool-assisted inspection. Some weaknesses like SQL Injection and Cross Site Scripting can be found efficiently with automated scanning tools. Other weaknesses related to insufficient enforcement of business logic can be found with manual inspection.

We prepare the report once the detailed review is complete. From the report the Executive Summary captures the strengths and weaknesses. The detailed findings section describes each finding – the impact, how it can be exploited, the complexity and the solution. We also show the insecure code that leads to the vulnerability.

Next probable cause is they made an error in the entry. They arranged the savings account in the payroll/checking account. Why would my account details be placed on an account number that belongs to someone else?

Good, this is one of those Mondays when I wish it is still Sunday. The good news is that my REAL account is safe and active.
